Everyone wants the power of the resurrection. But no one is interested in the process to achieve that power! The only way to gain the power of the resurrection is to enter into the suffering of Christ by dying to self.

What do modern-day Judaizers trying to accomplish? Today we consider them legalists. While they mean well they try to add works to salvation by grace alone. Some believe that salvation is by grace but feel the need to do good works for us to stay in God's good graces.
What is the term flesh mean in this passage? Is the flesh intrinsically bad? These are some of the issues we deal with in this podcast.

Part two of this passage.
One has to admit that being asked to live up the example of Christ can be disheartening and Paul's example is almost as difficult to emulate. So Paul now gives us two further examples of just your average guy who proves to us that it is possible to emulate Christ (even if we often to do so imperfectly most of the time).
Paul suggests Timothy and Epaphroditus as further examples of how we can emulate Christ.
In Timothy, we see a person with a servant's mind, a servant's training, and ultimately a servant's reward.
What is the difference between unity vs uniformity?

Part two of our study of this passage.
Obedience is a primary responsibility for the individual believer as well as the church as a whole.
We discuss what does it mean to "work out our salvation" To begin with God has fun with a bit of wordplay for as God works IN us we are to work OUT. In other words, we are to express horizontally our vertical salvation. Additionally, the Greek word for work out is related to how a miner works out a deposit of ore or a farmer works to bring in his harvest.
We are informed that God has given us three tools to help us to conform to Christ's image: the Word of God, Prayer, and the last one is the one I dislike the most - Suffering! God uses suffering to help drive us to the Father and to learn to respond with growth as we learn to suffer for His name's sake.

This is the second podcast dealing with this passage. What is humility and how do we develop it? Attitude drives our actions. Becoming like Christ comes by deciding to spend time with Him and attempting to emulate him.
When God the Son chose to come to earth he took on the form of humankind He volunteered to "empty himself." Theologians use the term "Kenosis" to describe this process.

Unity is works from the inside out while conformity is only outward actions with no real inward change. We discover that unity can be found even in diversity.
